Sharilyn's 10th Birthday

I'm a girl scout cookie mom again this year and we are still piled high with cookie boxes.
Jen & I played a musical number and talked about instruments in Emily's Kindergarten class.

I wrote a new song called "You Can Count on Me" and the primary children sang it in sacrament meeting.   A young man in our branch (Peter Celanos) has written a poem and asked me to compose music for it so I am working on that.

Happy 6th Birthday Emily!

Can you still squat like that Em?!

Emily in her Kindergarten play

A song I wrote called "A Light in the Darkness" was sung by our ward choir and then in the adult session of Stake Conference on the day before Easter.  Elder Kakuchi and Elder Nelson was there.  I'm so excited.  I love the song and feel it was given to me through inspiration from the Lord because I heard the beautiful song in my head! I wrote all the words down and then plunked out the melody on a keyboard. That part was quick and easy but it took me a lot of time to work out the piano arrangement.

Aaron came out of the bathtub in a towel and asked me if he looked like Jesus.  I satisfied his desire by saying "well yes, I guess you do look like Jesus."  He then looked really serious as though thinking and said "wait".  He then took off the towel and hung it over his right shoulder and tucked it under the left arm and said "There - now I look more like Jesus." !!!! Wow. I marvel.  Whenever Aaron talks about what he will be when he grows up he says a missionary.  One day he said "Mmmm, I Love chocolate!  I'm going to be a great chocolate missionary someday!" ha ha.  Another time I was telling him what a really cute picture he had drawn. I said "I'll bet you're going to be an artist!"  He said "Ya - I'm going to be an artist!"  Then he was quiet and thinking and added "I'll be a great missionary artist someday huh Mom!"

We cashed in our free tickets from being bumped last year and flew to Florida the end of this month.  (see next page)

Aaron woke up and ran downstairs to me saying he had dreamed a song.  He wanted to hear it again and seemed frustrated that he was not able to.  He tried to sing part of it for me but couldn't seem to get it right.  He told me it was called "A City of Love".  I told him to close his eyes and just think for a little while and maybe  he could remember it.  He tried and would say "Ya! That's it!  I remember now."  Then get up to sing it to me and try and frustratedly say "No that's not right.  I asked what it was about and he said it was about Jesus and Spring and a light shining up.  I was excited for what he may have heard in his dreams.  What wonderful things lie ahead if we are worthy.  "Out of the mouths of babes!"

We enjoyed Memorial Day weekend in Rexburg.  We went to the temple and got to see John and Merrilee Mo in the new temple film.  We had a picnic at Cave Falls with my family.  We put flowers on graves in Rexburg and Moore.

There was quite a funny moment with my Mom and Dad and Aaron.  He was sitting between Gpa and Gma in the car.  As Gma was getting into the car she accidently sat on Aaron's leg.  He exclaimed "Woa! You're heavy Grandma."  Then realizing that might have made her feel bad, he tried to smooth it over by saying "But a house is heavier." ha ha ha...Mom really laughed!  I could just see the wheels turning in his little head worrying that he'd said something unkind and trying to think of something that was heavier than Grandma. Ha ha ha

Coulters came to visit and stayed 3 weeks.  We went to Baker Lake, Boulder City, Cherry Creek, Craters of the Moon and Red Fish Lake.  I also just took them wherever I needed to go ha ha.  We had a Pickett reunion at Hunter's Pond and it was so nice of Debbie - she made her secret recipe famous caramels that she sells at bazaars for the reunion.  (Pickett's have people bring things to sell to help earn money for the next reunion.)  We individually wrapped each caramel and bundled them in half dozens.  Sadly nobody wanted any so we tried giving them away and still nobody took any.  We were sad and I felt a bit embarrassed.  We also took Coulters (and Steve Klingler) to Yellowstone.

Cari and Emily get along so amazingly!  They are best of friends.

Fun in the backyard

Chris took Aaron fishing one evening.  The moon came up in that really big and bright way that it sometimes does.  Aaron watched the moon and then asked "Daddy, is that Heavenly Father up there?"  He said "No, that's the moon."  Aaron then asked "Well is that the color of Heavenly Father?" Chris told him "Yes, Heavenly Father probably wears white and is bright like that."  Aaron's next question; "Will Heavenly Father be the same color when we see him again?"

Pickett Family Reunion at Hunter's Pond

So much fun at Hunter's Pond

July
On 4th of July Chris went fishing with Rick and Eric.  I took the kids to Hailey for the parade.  After Chris got home we took the canoe and raft down to the ponds here in Hulen Meadows. We enjoyed shooting off some of our own fireworks and enjoying the SV display at night.

Young Adults sang the song Peter (and I) wrote for his mission fairwell. It's called Mission Call.  I accompanied on piano.  He didn't know we were going to sing it and we surprised him to tears!

We are growing a little garden and Aaron gets so excited when he finds a big radish top peaking out of the ground. He has to come get me and asks if he can pull it out.  (The radishes are too hot for the kids taste buds but they do love to pull them out!)

Had to drive the pickup to Jen's viola lesson in Twin Falls because the car has something wrong with it.  I picked up two parts for the car and a tire because it got punctured in the side.  Cars are a real pain sometimes but I guess a horse would be a bigger pain.

Katie Birch came to stay for a week.  She and Sharilyn made cookies and KoolAid and made $7.50 at their lemonade stand.

Daddy-daughter Party

We went to a concert for kids in SV.  They had instruments for the kids to play along in the "Toy Symphony."  The conductor let some of the kids beat the base drum and he lifted Aaron up onto the stand and helped him beat the conducting pattern and cut everyone off at the end. Very thrilling! :)

Jennifer 7th grade

Sharilyn 5th grade

Emily 1st grade

Jennifer is so excited about Jr. High.  She and three 7th grade boys got invited to move up to 8th grade math.  Also she took a science test in which the teacher told them all that most of them would get a 20 but if any got 30 they would do very well in class this year.  Jennifer got a 54!

In our Twin Falls trip (for Jen's viola lesson) I spent the money I earned doing Sawtooth mailings to buy a recliner for Chris for his birthday.  We hauled it home in the pickup (I took the pickup because the car was getting fixed) and hid it!  It's hard to hide a recliner but we did it.  We had to take the door off the hinge to get it through but we put it in Sharilyn's room covered with blankets to make it look like a fort.

Jennifer went to Germany with her GSA troop! 12 girls and 5 adults.  She and I were so nervous before she left.  I asked Chris to give her a blessing to keep her safe and healthy and to not get homesick and to feel the companion of the Holy Ghost.  Jennifer had a wonderful trip.  She even got to call home once.  We missed her.  After she got home we sent 3 rolls of her film off to be developed and were terribly sad to only get two pictures back.  All the rest were black.

Emily asked Jen:  "Jennifer, is your cafeteria noisy?"  "Oh, not too bad."  "You're lucky!  Ours is as noisy as 42 chickens cocking on the fence!"

Brenda Weaver & I were chatting and we both were thinking we might be pregnant so Leonard did ultra sounds on both of us.  He saw what could be twins for us but told us not to get excited because that's somewhat common for this early.  He'll do another one in two weeks to see if it still looks the same.  I've had several dreams that people ask me how many kids we have and I always answer six.  It feels like that's how many we should have but I didn't know how we could possibly get two more with my age (I'll be 36 before we could get #5 here).  I guess the Lord will send them both together!  The thought of twins is so incredible.  It would surely take care of getting two more children to us.  It's an overwhelming thought yet my hopes are up and I can't stop thinking about it. That would be really special.

Oct - so what is life like?  Mondays are FHE.  Tuesdays Jennifer tutors Courtney in math, Sharilyn babysits for Burbies and then has choir practice.  Wednesdays - every other is Twin Falls. Thursdays are the same as Tues except we add YW every other for Jen and add choir practice for Chris & I and it's stake meeting night for Chris & sometimes me. (we go to choir because Sis. Devoe is the director, brought into that position from being inactive so we need to support her.)

Enjoying nature at Adams Gulch
(Debbie's got the popular
big glasses for a little while.)

We have confirmed that we are expecting twins!  We went with Leonard and Brenda again to get ultrasounds at the hospital. Leonard is a radiologist there and he is the one that discovered this amazing news - two little hearts beating!  Wow! Brenda and I are due within days of each other!

Got to stay at Margo's in San Francisco.  She has moved from the top of Nob Hill to the top of Russian Hill.  We got to go to a Mozart opera and also saw Les Miserable! We ate at the Fish Grotto #9.  You can see it from Margo's roof top.  We bought Aaron a fire engine for Christmas at FAO Schwartz.  On the way to the airport we saw a glimpse of the tail of Humphrey the Whale.  He was beached and people were trying to help him get back out to sea.

Nov

Got to have another ultra sound with Brenda.  I'm 12 weeks along and the babies are only 3" long but look like little babies.  One was sucking it's thumb!  Leonard says he can already see that one looks like a boy.  I so hope all goes well.  I'm so excited about twins.  It's a very special gift I'm so filled with gratitude to the Lord.

The kids were all excited about the news.  Sharilyn asked "Mom, do you know what they are yet?  Emily looked shocked and replied loudly "Know what they are?!!  What do you mean, know what they are?!  Do you think Mom's going to have a chicken or something?"

Speaking of chickens, ha ha, After a very monotone sacrament meeting speaker finished speaking, Emily leaned over to me and said "That was about as boring as a dead chicken." Ha ha!

Mom & Dad and Steve came for Thanksgiving.

Sharilyn loves singing with the
Sun Valley Serenader's Choir
They have been very busy with performances
almost every night and practices
twice a week.

The kids are getting excited for Christmas and love to snip the links off of our Christmas chain.  Aaron is so excited he counts all the links that are left a couple times a day. :)

Our family was in charge of a sacrament meeting this month.  We did musical numbers with singing and viola, flute, guitar and gave talks.  Emily & Aaron even memorized their talk.  We brought them on Sat before to practice at the pulpit.  I was proud of everyone, they did so well.  Aaron got a bit too bashful to speak though on Sunday but I was proud of him for trying.

We had the most adorable Santa for our branch party.  Since being Primary President I've been in charge of arranging for Santa and for the goodie bags he gives out.  I had Br. Mallard all set but was in a little panic because he had to cancel to be with his mother who was very ill.  I tried another person but he couldn't help us.  Arlene called her friend who is the cities Santa, Jack Williams.  He was booked solid but oh how blessed we were that a miracle happened!  Someone cancelled on the very night we needed him!  He was the cutest Santa Claus!

                                            Happy 5th Birthday Aaron!!!
