After spending a good deal of the year flirting, ha ha, Chris took me home from school on my 16th birthday and that began our life together. We saw the sunrise on the butte together and he took me fishing in June.
| New beginnings - a Fishing trip to Moore ID |
Few people have heard of Moore Idaho yet we both had family there! This was such fun :) I stayed with Lewis and Rayola and Chris stayed with his Grandpa King. They live right next to each other!
Chris took pictures and surprised me a couple weeks later with this newspaper article!
I first met Chris in the fall of 1970. His family had just moved to Idaho from Hawaii, sadly due to Chris's father passing away from asthma. His mother was getting married to John L. Clarke, president of Rick's College. I wasn't enamored by Chris when first he introduced himself in our seminary class that fall. I didn't think he was attractive - he was growing out a butch, and I thought he was full of himself when he said:
"My name is W. Christopher King. I originated from Hawaii and my interests are mathematics and science."
Yet...there was something familiar about him. I was sure I must have know him from somewhere. I thought of Moore! I had been camping with my cousins and LeAnn and I had flirted with a kid across the river. That must have been him! I got up the courage, and it took quite awhile. Finally I asked him if he'd ever been to Moore Idaho. What shock it was to discover this commonality between us! (and no, he hadn't been camping in Moore that summer)
