In the Beginning

Debbie
Hello's and goodbyes

Born in Oakridge Tenn where my Dad was a student on a full scholarship to the Oakridge School of Reactor Technology in Tennessee. Working with Richard G. Scott, who later became an apostle, Dad became part of a team called “The Critical Assembly”, which was the beginnings of this new school.  After Dad graduated his first job took us to Pittsburg PA, then Shelly ID where I went to Kindergarten.
I was sad to leave Shelly and my friends and ballet curtains in my bedroom.  I was happy meeting CA.  I loved it and I loved the heat and even though I was only a 1st grader, I was intrigued by the idea of CA.
While in 7th grade we moved to Rexburg ID.  I was so very sad to leave CA. I was happy to meet ID and spend time with grandparents!  It was a difficult adjustment for me at that age and getting to know cold winter etc but as a 12 year old kid "it is what it is" and you just go with it.
At age 20 I married Chris and our first apt was in a basement which filled all the way up with water 4 months later from the Teton dam break.  It was a terrible disaster but many miracles occurred. (see 1976)  Rick's College opened their doors to house and feed people.   A couple months later we moved to Provo for school.
