Sharilyn's 4th Birthday!  Bridgette, Sharilyn, Jennifer,
Amanda, Kristen, Darcy

Sharilyn:  "Something tells me our baby is going to be a girl."  "Oh really?  What tells you that Sharilyn?" "I don't know, just something does.  And something else tells me it is going to be a boy."  Ha ha ha ha!

April 8, 1984
On this, my birthday and General Conference Sunday, my parents called in the evening to say hello.  Mom said "You're sure going to have to hurry if you're going to get the baby here on your birthday!"  I laughed and said ya, don't think that'll happen ha ha.  About an hour or so later I went into labor and at 10:29 pm Emily was born!  She weighed 6 lb 14 oz.

Not sure why we're all so solemn but this is my 29th birthday!
Before and After photos of this day! :)

Emily and I got to spend a little extra time together in the hospital due to her coming via C-section.  This happened because she was transverse.  I got a spinal headache from the anesthesia and then a phlebitis condition which is stagnant clotting blood. It was all worth it getting a little cutie like her.  More than one nurse told me "This little Emily is my favorite baby in the nursery!"  She was honestly just adorable and everybody loved her.  She seemed to have some spunk and personality right off the bat!

Looking in wonder at their new baby sister. :)

Everyone knows how we love little girls, Their pretty pink ruffles and little blond curls.  Well we now have a trio of sugar and spice with a new pink addition that we thinks awfully nice!  On April the 8th she came in to be and the name that we've chosen is Emily Marie. :)
Anderson's decorated our house for our arrival home.  Pink streamers and a sign that said "It's a Girl!" with her name and weight.  ha ha

Emily on her blessing day :)

May
Mom Clarke broke her nose.  :(  When Chris told Sharilyn that sad news she asked in all seriousness if they put her nose back on. :D

Jennifer quotes:

Is Adam your very best friend, Jennifer?  “Well, No.  Sharilyn is my best friend.”  Ah…☺ so sweet.

“I can’t decide who I want to marry.  I just can’t make up my mind between David, Joey or Elder Simonson.”

Jennifer was cold and her teeth were chattering.  She said “Mom, my teeth are dancing!”

We had been sitting in a waiting room a long time on a very hot day.  A lady came out and asked Jennifer if she was nice and cool.  “No.” she replied but then thought about it and said “well we’re nice…but…”

Jennifer, go wash off your fingers.  “Oh but I like um on.  Jesus gave me my fingers to wiggle.”

Jennifer your face is all dirty.  You need to go wash your face.  “This isn’t dirt!  It’s milkshake!”

We came back from Rexburg and Jennifer was telling someone “We just visited my grandma and grandpa and I just thoroughly loved them!”

Jennifer asked me why I was hitting my hand.  I told her it was because it had fallen asleep.  She said “But I don’t hear it snoring.”

Sharilyn Quotes:
One time when the phone rang Sharilyn picked it up and said "This is the wrong number!"

Sharilyn bit into a piece of old fruit that must have tasted bad. She pulled a terrible face and said "Mommy I think this fruit is inspired!"

In a lesson that was talking about pioneer children walking a long long ways Sharilyn asked "Are they going to see their grandma?"

"Ah this feels like a good day to go outside barenaked!"

Sharilyn gets people's names mixed up sometimes.  When we need to get a babysitter, she makes some requests and we have to work on translation.  Now we know that Blue Jean = LuGene, Alice in Wonderland = Alison Gardner, Lemonade = Linay and Geneology = Ginny.  One time she said "I have some Aunt Polish on my fingernails!"  (Aunt Paula?)  She called Bestimo Pepto Bismol.  One time when I didn't meet her demand she said "Mommy, if you don't do that I'll lose my temperature at you!"

Klingler's, Troniers and Aunt Carole came to visit us in Northbrook.

I made these Cabbage Patch dolls for the girls
because we couldn't afford the real ones.

From the mind of Jennifer:

Her first poem:  "The cat & the rat ran away from the dog, and the dog was sad and the cat was mad and the dog and the cat ran away from the bat and the bat was sad and the dog was mad.  Fiddle Fiddle Fiddle Ding Ding Dong!"

Another:  "Let's go to Chef Brockets to see the ship rocket."

A silly little bedtime discussion...delaying going to sleep! "Am I black? No Jennifer, we are white.  Well your hair is black and mine is supposed to be black.  No, my hair is brown and yours is blond.  But I want brown hair.  Oh but blond hair is sooo pretty!  But I don't like it blond, I like it brown.  Well it will probably turn brown when you are older and then you will probably wish it was blond again.  But I want brown hair.  Well, should I cut off all your blond hair then?  Jennifer looked really sad and her lip turned down.  I laughed and then she smiled and said "Do you have scissors?"  Yes but I don't want to cut your hair off, I like your hair!  Well then cut yours off.  No!  I like my hair too.  Well then cut off Sharilyn's.  No I like Sharilyn's.  Well then cut off Daddy's hair.  No I like daddy's hair too.  Jennifer, we would all look pretty funny without our hair.  To which she replied "So. That's your problem!"

Mom, next time I say a bad word will you wash my mouth out with toothpaste because that is the best soap

From the mind of Sharilyn
We were driving to Idaho and Sharilyn wanted to get out of the car and "Hot off".  She was excited to see "loaves" of hay and then "cubes" of hay and "fur" on the mountains.  She was also excited to see "birdies with bare feet on."

"you better give that back to me Jennifer because I told Heavenly Father on you!"
"Can we make a snack for Jesus?"
"Can we go now mommy?  Can we go right now?"  "Go where Sharilyn?"  "To Jesus!"

How old will I be when Emily is 17?  You will be 22... maybe you'll be married."  "Married?!" I guess I can't marry Heavenly Father cause he's way up there huh Mommy."

Sharilyn likes to talk about Jesus and living there.  "I love all those good people up there.  We'll just take all our stuff and run up there.  I'll go up there with this full of food so I can give it to everyone.  I'll bring a bag of noodles so everyone can have a noodle.  Maybe a baby will come up.  Jesus will be so happy to have us up there.  Jesus will burn all the bad people and the wicked witch and the ghost.  He'll burn up the monster and the snakes.

When we die and go to heaven and then when we die in heaven, do we come back to Northbrook?"

Sharilyn was looking at a map and asked where heaven was.

One day we gave the girls some sorbet to eat and it was so cute to see Sharilyn run to get her mittens to eat it with.
I took her hairband off when tucking her into bed and she asked "Can I plug my hairband back on in the morning?"

Sharilyn was staring at a Jewish person who had on the little skull cap.  She looked up at me and asked "Is that a thinking cap he has on?"

Sharilyn looked really upset and I asked her what was wrong.  "I ate Jennifer because she hit me!"

Sometimes I wonder what in the world Sharilyn is thinking like when she said "We must remember to take the baby out of the oven before we cook something."  Another time:  "I can't see Mary."  "Who is Mary?"  "I can't talk about it Mom." "Why can't you see Mary?"  "I can't tell you." And that was the end of that!

Sharilyn's prayers are always so thoughtful.  She really thinks about what she wants to say.  She blesses the bunk beds and thanks the Lord for everything!! She blesses the bad people that Jesus will come and burn them (:0) She prays that she can go to nursery school and blesses all the people up in heaven. She blesses President Benson and the 12 "opossums".  She blesses that she and Jennifer won't have any bad dreams.  "Bless Emily's cord to come off so she can have a belly button"  I told Shar that her prayers were very nice and it was good how she thought about such nice things to say.  She said "Yes, I say nice things to Him so I can go live with Him."

Another sweet prayer:  Bless Grama and Grampa and bless the one who drives the airplane to drive safely with Grama and Grampa in it and bless they can sleep well when they are here and bless they can stay a long time.

Emily was in the Chicago Tribune!
A friend in Northbrook worked for the newspaper in the advertizing dept.  She would arrange models and she thought Emily was beautiful and wanted to know if they could use her as a model.  We drove into Chicago for the photo shoot and she was in the paper the day after Christmas and then again in January and this one in February:

Little Emily crawls all around carrying things in her mouth like a little puppy! One time she was even carrying some slippers in her mouth!  Ha ha!
