Jan 22 Chris took me skiing for my first time today at Targhee. I was a big chicken and didn't enjoy it - until the very end when we were going to the car. I sat on the skis and slid down. Now that was fun!
Feb 3rd. At the temple I learned something cool. Temple work used to be only for the living until some spirits kept coming to the President of the Church (I can't remember which one) wanting their work done. They were the signers of the Declaration of Independence, and that began the work for the dead.
March 4th we performed in our 82nd ward talent show. We hammed up "Peanut Butter Sandwich" and also we sang "Poor Man's Blunder". Everyone loved it especially when Chris blew flour out of his mouth where it says "A puff of dust".
Chris got a summer job at the sight in the same building where Dad works! We are excited! We are living in Rexburg with Clarkes for the summer. I got a job at Hirsch fabric store.

Journal: June 4th
Today Rexburg celebrated "Volunteer Appreciation Day" for all those who came & helped us after the flood. About 5,000 came. There were speakers at Ricks by Idaho Senators and J. Richard Clark. There were bus trips out to the dam, rides at Porter Park and a concert with "Sun, Shade & Rain" in the evening. Lunches were sold in the park at noon and then there was a free banquet in the evening! This morning KRXK played excerpts from the news people of when the dam was really breaking. It was exciting and scary to hear it again!
I made Chris a squash pie because he loves it and told me it’s too hot for cake.
I feel the baby so much now. We started some pre-natal classes so that Chris can be present in the birth. It is so special to think that Heavenly Father is letting us raise one of His children. It's kind-of like Christmas! You can't wait to see what ya get and you're excited about what you are going to give...not only physically but spiritually, mentally and socially. It's a great responsibility.
Journal Entry June:
Laurel got engaged and I went with her and Mom Clarke to a bridal shop in St. Anthony to pick out
fabric and a pattern for her dress.
I learned something so neat about the new Washington DC temple from the lady sewing Laurels bride dress - her husband laid the carpeting in the temple and told us about how every night things got stolen from the temple in construction so they hired some guards to watch it and still things would get stolen. One day, know one knows from where, a large German Shepherd showed up on the temple grounds. He looked thin so one of the guards fed him and the dog stayed by his side. Nothing was stolen while that dog was there. He seemed to know that he had a job to do. All the workers had to stop and let him smell them or the dog wouldn’t let them through. Even though this lady's husband was friends with the dog, one day he showed up with new tools and couldn’t get through until the dog checked out and smelled the equipment. One day some people were taking pictures and the dog chased them onto the top of an oil truck because they hadn’t let him smell them first. All visitors had to check in with the dog. Each night this German Shepherd would make the rounds alone of every room in the temple and then he’d come out and watch outside. One day he was making his rounds and didn’t come out so they went in looking for him. He was standing in front of a wall staring at it and no matter what they did, he would not leave! The men knew something must be wrong so they tore through the wall and found a small electrical wire starting on fire. The dog never left the temple grounds until the day it was dedicated and then he just disappeared and no one could figure out where. One day the dog showed up at the house of one of the guards who gladly kept him. What an amazing story!”

It was with much anticipation and excitement that this day has arrived. Suspecting I might be pregnant, I took a urine sample into Dr. Gemlich’s office. I turned it in and then Chris & I sat in the waiting room and waited for the results. I was so nervous. My heart was pounding as I sat with anticipation, wonder, excitement and worry. I saw Dr. Gemlich come to the desk and give them something. They called my name. My heart pounded harder as I walked to the desk. The lady opened my folder and said with a smile “Okay - the test was positive.” I could feel all my excitement leak out of my lips as a sigh escaped me. An appointment was made to see the doctor and Chris and I walked out with great joy and happiness. Tears filled our eyes as we headed home. It’s so exciting. I cannot believe it. I just can’t describe the joy from those few words “The test was positive”. POSITIVE :) :)
On Sunday Chris & I told my family the good news. We said "Hey! We heard something neat yesterday!" Mom asked "What did you hear?" "We heard that you are going to be grandparents!" ha ha

Sometimes I feel so totally blessed. Sometimes I feel discouraged and depressed and more emotional maybe from being pregnant. But realizing the miracle of life, I feel undeservedly blessed. The Lord's work goes on each day creating something more precious and beautiful. I love my Chris and I love this baby and with so much to love...well, when one is full of love, one can't be too unhappy.
Oh, today I finished painting the poppies on the side of the garage! I added a caterpillar and a butterfly and it looks really cute! Mom Clarke loves them! She has a big poppy painting in the kitchen and one day she was looking out the window and said that she wished someone would paint poppies on that plain wall like a mirror of the painting. I decided to take on the project.

Sept:
Today on Chris’s birthday I had a Dr. Apt with Dr. Smoot (Provo) and got to hear the babies heart beat on an amplifier machine. You could even hear it move a lot. It was so exciting. Such a miracle. I just can’t believe it.

We took a car trip to Vancouver British Columbia and saw the Butchart Gardens and went to the wax museum. On the ferry back we saw a porpoise playing in the water. We drove to Hoh Rain Forest and camped. I had a bit too much morning sickness.
I got a job again this year at Provo Craft. I worked as a cashier mostly last year but this year I'm mostly at the ribbon counter. I really like it.
Chris has been serving as a student defender in the BYU judicial system.
Chris & I got a calling to be activity leaders and we are in charge of the Thanksgiving Dinner. Oh My! I about died when we received that huge assignment. (I'm also the nursery coordinator for RS. I don't like it.)
